Former social studies teacher Ms. Parkinson made the transition from classroom to administration when she was named the new Dean of Students last summer, replacing Ms. Czerula, who took a position as principal of Allenstown Elementary School.

While Ms. Parkinson, who taught for 14 years, said she misses teaching, she enjoys getting to know the students and staff on “a one-on-one basis” with her new job.

Being a dean, however, also offers its share of challenges.

“It’s very busy and you never what’s going to happen in your day,” she said.

Ms. Parkinson brings with her many qualifications, including a doctorate in educational leadership and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS).

So far, Ms. Parkinson is fitting in well with the current PA administration.

“She has dedication and pride for PA,” said Director of Curriculum Mr. Morris. “She also has patience and sound judgement.”

Headmaster Mr. Famulari said he was pleased to have Ms. Parkinson join the administrative team, adding that she is “supremely competent in all aspects of her job.”

Along with her responsibilities as Dean of Students, Ms. Parkinson still finds the time to resume her position working as the director of The PA Players, the school’s drama club.

“It’s nice to see students in a different environment outside of school,” she said.
