In September, Rod Wave released his third straight number one album titled “Nostalgia.”
Rod Wave is a popular artist, known for a voice that blends R&B and hip-hop. Some critics have said that Wave has created a new subgenre of music called “soul trap.” Some of his most popular songs that he is known for are “Heart On Ice” and “Sky Priority.”
“Nostalgia” contains 18 songs and runs roughly an hour in length. The album is, overall, a sadder type than some of Wave’s previous work but still a great listen.
On the Billboard Top 100 songs, all 18 songs are currently on the list with most of the songs in the Top 40.
As of right now, the most popular song on the album is “Call Your Friends,” where Wave sings about fame and how all the calls he gets now are from people asking him for favors, and he misses his friends just calling to talk.
The most upbeat song on the album, “Turks & Caicos” features 21 Savage and peaked at number 24. Overall, it is a good song, although 21 Savage’s verse on the song is not his best work— to put it lightly.
The least popular song of the album is “Rap Beef,” which is repetitive and lacks the full stories that his other songs provide.
On the whole, however, Wave does a great job singing and storytelling. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone with an appreciation for soul and style.
