Irish singer/songwriter Hozier performed his “Unreal Unearth” tour at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, in Gilford, N.H. on Sept. 24.
Andrew John Hozier-Byrne is the lead singer of the band Hozier, whose music blends folk, blues and soul with lyrics that dig deep into religion, politics and literature.
Madison Cunningham opened the show. Cunningham has a strong voice with a lot of different ranges. While I had never heard of her prior to this concert, she had a great voice and her songs were catchy.
However, Hozier was one of the best—if not the best— show I’ve seen. His guitar solos blew me away. I honestly didn’t know that he could play guitar as fluently as he did on stage that night.
Highlights of the night were his performances of “First Light”, “Cherry Wine” and “Unknown/Nth.” The vocals gave me goosebumps.
His backup singers, Melissa McMillan and Kristen Rogers were also exceptional.
This concert was amazing, and if I had the chance, I would see it again. It was well worth the trip to Gilford.
