On Thursday, Oct. 5, Pembroke Academy classes will compete in the homecoming week tradition of a flag football tournament.
The games will begin at 6 p.m. on the PA football field. Admission costs $5.
This event allows the students in their respective classes to demonstrate school spirit and competitiveness in a safe environment.
This year the teams were filled. The senior team had been completely filled in just a couple of hours after being announced.
Senior Jake Demers, who is the coach of the senior team, said that he can’t wait to help bring the win to them this year.
“As seniors, it is our duty to win,” he said. “It is going to be a very casual win so we aren’t that worried”.
Flag football uses the same rules as American football; however, as opposed to the full-contact sport, players pull flags, located on the waist, instead of tackling. Additionally, teams only have four downs to score.
The freshmen, sophomore and junior classes will also compete for bragging rights.
