The top 10 students in PA’s Class of 2019 were announced recently at a senior class meeting in the Roberta Doore Auditorium.

Alysse Cleasby is valedictorian of the class and will deliver an address at the graduation ceremony scheduled for  June 8 at 10 .am.

“There are so many intelligent, hardworking, deserving students, many of whom are my friends, so to be named valedictorian is not only an honor, but a privilege,” said Cleasby. “School has always been something that I am intrinsically motivated to succeed in.”

Additionally, Levi Putnam is the senior class’s salutatorian, and he will address the student body in a speech at the Convocation ceremony on June 7.

The rest of the top 10, in ascending order, include Emily Duffy, Avery Gamache, Emily Lacasse, Laurel Klawes, Miriam Kafkoulas, Hannah Serafin, Sarah May Shultz and Jakob Mavity.

Class rank is determined by the overall G.P.A., with honors and Advanced Placement courses weighted for their rigor.

To finish in the Top 10 of the class requires sedulous attention to schoolwork and keen time management skills. Kafkoulas also credits her competitive spirit.

“There was always people who seemed better than me and I hated that because I would try so hard and would still get no recognition,” she said. “So I just really wanted to do the best.”

The Top 10 seniors and their parents will be honored on May 16 with a dinner at The Red Blazer in Concord.
