Students to cut hair for a cause

On Thursday morning during Winter Carnival, the Key Club will once again hold the “Cut it for a Cause” hair donation where students cut their hair and donate the locks to children with hair loss.

To participate, students need to have at least eight inches of hair to cut. In order to qualify for donation, the hair can be dyed but it must be freshly washed.

Key Club president Alyssa Lambert said the club does the annual event because it is a great way for the school to donate hair to kids with cancer.

“We just think it’s a nice thing to do because we take our hair for granted and get attached to it, but it’s really not that bad to cut it since it will help others,” said Lambert, a member of the senior class.

Senior Sarah Miner, who will be participating in this year’s event, said she has been thinking about donating her hair during Winter Carnival since last year and finally decided to go through with it.

“I want to donate some of my hair because I know that it is going to a place that provides children with hair loss wigs at no cost,” she said. “I am a little nervous about donating my hair, but I am mostly excited.”
