Climate scientists have reported the human race has fewer than 11 years left to reverse the effects of climate change then before the damage will be irreparable, but this doesn’t seem to be deterring some celebrities.
While Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour swept through the world, Swift not only racked up ticket sales, but also carbon emissions. In fact, Swift accumulated more than eight tons of carbon emissions j on her private jet alone, spending more than 22,923 minutes, or about 15 days, on her jet.
Her fan’s use of Pixmob light show bracelets that are discarded after each concert add another environmental headache. Made with infrared beams to create light shows and intricate designs on fans’ wrists during shows, the Pixmob bracelets also pollute the environment.
Although Taylor Swift is the worst offender, other celebrities Floyd Maywether, Jay-Z and Blake Shelton all produce over five tons of carbon emissions yearly. It’s about time someone holds these influential celebrities accountable for their emissions and their impact on climate change.
Meanwhile, other celebrities are making it a mission to become eco-friendly.
Grande has one of the most environmentally friendly perfume brands with vegan, cruelty-free products and biodegradable packaging.
Additionally, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ian Somerhold both launched a non-profit organization focused on environmental conservation, taking it into their own hands to reduce their carbon footprint.
We need to start making celebrities accountable. Allowing these individuals to produce more than the average household’s yearly emissions will only escalate the planet’s decline.
It will be a challenge for Taylor Swift to sell tickets when there’s no one on the planet to watch her shows.
