“Instead of taking a traditional birthing class, I did a hypno-birthing class,” said Pembroke Academy math teacher Ms. Donnelly, who used hypnosis to aid her in giving birth to her two children.

During Ms. Donnelly’s first pregnancy, she went to a hypno-birthing class where she learned how to become hypnotized by the sound of her teacher’s voice on a CD. “Hypnosis made it a pain free experience, and the only time I felt pain was when my CD ended,” Ms. Donnelly said.

While in college, Ms. Donnelly attended a hypnotist show and said that she is “99 percent sure” it was Paul Ramsay, the same hypnotist who has performed twice at PA.

Under hypnosis, Ms. Donnelly said that she just falls asleep. “I don’t even know what the messages on my CDs are because I just sleep through them,” she said.

Ms. Donnelly believes that everyone should look into is hypno-birthing, “I was able to avoid taking any medications,” she said.
