Stop assigning work during school breaks

With Winter Break approaching, now is a good time to say this: it’s unnecessary to assign work or projects during school breaks.

These breaks are meant to be a time where students and teachers alike can relax and escape from the stresses of school work.

There are 180 days in the school year, 180 days of school work and obligation. When we finally get a break, the excitement is undermined when work is assigned.

Not only students, but the teachers also must be stressed out from the work they assign during school breaks. They have to grade it, after all.

And it is unreasonable to assign work that requires teacher assistance.

Additionally, projects and excessive amounts of school work over break take too much time out of the much-needed vacation. These breaks relieve stress of students and teachers alike and having piles of work feels like school never ends.

What should be done not only here at PA, but in other schools as well, is to stop assigning homework and projects during breaks.

A school break is exactly that: a break.
