Pembroke Academy’s Key Club will host a Haunted Walk for Halloween on Friday, Oct. 29 from 5-7 p.m.

The price of admission is $3 for individuals and $10 for a family of four or more. Children under 4 years old are admitted for free. All proceeds from the walk will go toward supporting Key Club.

Unlike in previous years, when PA’s Halloween events were hosted indoors, this year’s Haunted Walk will take place outside due to COVID precautions.

“The most difficult part of organizing the event was trying to figure out what we were going to be able to do,” said Key Club advisor Ms. Sally Johnson in an email. “Key Club usually does a Haunted House in the basement, but with COVID-19 still a part of our lives, we opted to do something outdoors this year.”

The event will consist of a guided walk, where guests will be escorted from table to table collecting Halloween candies and treats. At the end of the walk, there will be a bake sale.

Students interested in volunteering can sign up to be greeters, man a table, guide guests or help with the bake sale and earn community service hours. Students can also sign up to be wanderers, who Ms. Johnson says may or may not get to scare a few people.

Ms. Johnson has said that working with students is the best part about putting the walk together.

“The ideas are generated by them and we truly would not be able to do things like this without them. It’s great to see them work together to do something for our community,” said Ms. Johnson.

Senior and club officer Allison Minor agrees.

“I think that the most enjoyable part of putting this event together was seeing the excitement and participation of the club,” said Minor. “This year, we have many new members and freshmen who have joined our club. It has been wonderful to see how much they want to participate.”

The walk is open to the community as well as PA students and staff
