The spirit team takes another title
The Pembroke Academy spirit team won yet-another Division II state title at Pinkerton Academy yesterday.
During their warm-ups, the signs of another championship seemed ominous.
“The warm up was a disaster because of the nerves, stress and we were all tired from school,” said sophomore Aleesha Jordan. “We were going through every possible emotion.”
The signs, however, proved wrong as the team finished in first place and will now compete in the regional competition Saturday at Worcester State University.
“It felt amazing to win states,” said sophomore Alli Canning. “Our team has been through a lot.”
Athletic Director Mr. Vezina said that Pembroke Academy’s spirit team’s performance was flawless when other teams faltered.
“Our team was strong because it’s filled with strong people who worked hard everyday,” said Canning.
The winter spirit team includes seniors Kassidy Lombard, Abby Meadows and Mackenzie Harriman; juniors Morgan Polk, Taylor Beaudoin and Shyanne Lesage; Kerra Vallee, Azya D’Amore, Savannah Wallace, Rylee Smith, Canning and Jordan; and freshmen Alexis Lesage, Elle Despres, Marlee Marsden and Mckenzee Lamere-Cray.
The team is coached by Alyssa McQueen, Melissa Gerrish and Nicole Nason.
