Open House tries new format

PA held  its annual Open House  for students and parents on Tuesday, Sept. 14 with a new format.

In previous years, the Open House schedule mimicked a Spartan Day with parents and students visiting all eight classes for 10-minute periods.

This year, however, administration used a more traditional model of Open House where parents and students could roam the school and visit with teachers and staff at their leisure.

According to some faculty, the change was for the better.

“I think it was more useful for parents than previous models,” said English teacher Ms. Williams. “Any time you increase individualized parent contact, students benefit.”

Social studies teacher Ms. Frostholm also preferred the new model as there was “enough time to prepare” for the change in model as well.

Director of curriculum Ms. Parkinson  said the move to the new model represents the current administrative philosophy

“We’re always willing to change things up,” she said.
