It’s going to take a village

There are currently three COVID-19 vaccines out (Pfizer, Moderna and J&J) yet many people are still choosing to stay away from getting the  vaccine.

Seeing how there are a variety of vaccines already trusted by many citizens—- such as influenza, tetanus, and polio—-there is no reason to not trust the  medical professionals who developed and endorsed the vaccines.

There is no good reason why healthy citizens without significant health risks or religious exemptions should stay away from getting the vaccine.

I realize that it can be an inconvenience to get the shot, and that there may be side effects for some people, such as soreness in the arm or fever-like symptoms, but it is imperative that we all do our part to get society back to normal.

I’ve also noticed that many people staying away from the vaccine also complain about wearing masks. While I am not a fan of the mask, the only responsible way to discontinue wearing them in public involves vaccinating the majority of the population, or herd-immunity, which is 70 percent of the population for COVID-19. Therefore, complaining about wearing the masks, but not wanting the vaccine is counterintuitive.

To all healthy citizens, please  get vaccinated so we can get society back to normal and finally put this pandemic behind us.
