Self-improvements for the new year

As the New Year arrived, one might overhear people saying, “This year is going to be different.”

As we welcome in a new decade, many people are making resolutions for self improvement in 2020.

These resolutions, or goals, people set for themselves vary from person to person, but there are some commonalities.

The Top Five resolutions for adults are dieting, exercising more, losing weight, saving money or spending less, and learning a new skill or hobby.

Many people set these common goals at the beginning of the new year to start with a clean slate. But how many people actually stick to them?

Out of the people who set a New Year’s Resolution, 25 percent of people stick to them after 30 days, and only 8 percent actually accomplish them for the entire year.

If only 8 percent of people who set a resolution keep their goal, why do so many people set them for themselves?

It [the resolution] comes at a time when people look back at the past year and make an effort to improve themselves as the new year begins,” said Howard Bennett in The Washington Post.

With such daunting statistics, good luck. But remember it’s never too late to change.
