AP exams to be administered in May

Each May students in Advanced Placement (AP) courses take AP exams to earn college credits. AP testing at PA will take place May 7-14.

On May 7, the AP Physics exam will be administered at noon. AP Literature and Composition will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 8 a.m. The AP U.S. History exam will be in the morning and AP Physics 2 exam in the afternoon on May 10.

AP testing will wrap up with Biology at 8 a.m. on May 13 and Calculus at 8 a.m. on May 14.

Senior Zofia Juranty is taking four AP courses and says that she is feeling “confident” about the tests but excited for them to finish.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do in college so I figured if I took the hardest classes in every subject I’d have more options,” she said.

Many students choose to take AP classes to earn the college credits. For most colleges, they will award credit for exam scores of “three” or above. Not all colleges and universities, however, accept the credits.

To help mitigate college costs, PA students can also earn college credit taking classes in the Running Start or dual enrollment programs.

The Running Start program is offered through the New Hampshire Institute of Technology while Southern New Hampshire University awards credits through dual enrollment.
